Interim Pastors

Biographical Sketch of Pastor Thomas Bryan

Pastor Tom Bryan was born and raised in Sothern California. He graduated from North Hollywood High School in 1965, Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1971 and Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul in 1975. After an additional two years of study at Luther Seminary he was Ordained into the ministry of the American Lutheran Church at his home congregation in North Hollywood in January 1977.

Tom's first call was as a member of the Namekagon Area Team Ministry serving First Lutheran Church of Stone Lake, Trinity Lutheran Church, Spooner and the Namekagon Congregational Church of Earl Wisconsin. He was later called full-time as the Pastor of the Spooner Congregation. Taking a short hiatus from ministry in the mid 80's, he built, owned and operated the Spooner Auto Laundry and was involved in several other business ventures. Returning to the
ministry in 1986 he served as Interim Pastor at Bethel Lutheran Church in Hawkins and Bethany Lutheran Church in Catawba, WI. He later served a short interim at Ezekiel Lutheran in River Falls and in February 1988 accepted a call as Associate Pastor at S1. John's Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. In 1995 he was called to serve as Senior Pastor at St. John's which was the position
from which he retired in November of2007.

Tom and his wife Sara live in Eau Claire. He has one daughter Erica who resides with her family in Rochester, Minnesota and a daughter Nicole who lives with her family in Eau Claire. Tom has three really great grandchildren and his number one hobby is woodworking.

Bio on Pastor Bob Schoenknecht

Pastor Bob grew up in Eau Claire. After graduating from Memorial High School, he entered S1. Olaf College and graduated with a degree in chemistry in 1966. Pastor Bob then entered the Navy and served six years in the nuclear power program which included a tour of duty on the nuclear submarine USS Thomas Edison. Upon leaving the Navy, Pastor Bob enrolled in UW Eau Claire where he received a degree in elementary education in 1974. For the next thirty-one years Pastor Bob served as an elementary teacher in Eau Claire. In 2005 Pastor Bob retired from teaching and entered Luther Seminary in St. Paul. After graduating in 2009 with a Master of Divinity Degree he was called to serve the Colfax Rural Lutheran Parish consisting of Norton, Holden, and North Running Valley Lutheran churches. Pastor Bob retired from that call in June of 2017 and has continued to serve as a supply pastor in the greater Eau Claire area. Pastor Bob and his wife Mary have two adult daughters; Georgia and her husband Brian who live in Champlin, Minnesota and Elizabeth and her husband Didrik who live in Hudson, Wisconsin. Pastor Bob and Mary have four grandchildren: Allison, Will, Solveig, and Soren.
